My birthday has never really been a big deal to me. It never has been.

It's not about the day, or the attention, or the presents. It's not even about the cake... and if you know me, you know I'm not a sweets guy anyway. But there's one version of a birthday I've always loved, and it came from my dad. Every year on his birthday, my dad did something I've never forgotten: he gave gifts to everyone else.

I can still picture us walking into Fortunoff at the Woodbridge Center Mall in New Jersey, arms filling up as we went. Things like scarves, perfume, or jewelry boxes for the women. Cologne, a cool utility tool, and a hundred other little things for the men. From the littlest kid to the oldest person at the table... nobody got left out. It was his birthday. And he spent it giving. And he loved every second of it. It gave him the greatest joy. And I understand why.

That's stayed with me my whole life. And honestly, it's a big part of why Momentum exists.
